It's worth noting that all of the water outlets in your home, except for the cold running water in the kitchen, are supplied from the water storage tank in your attic. These outlets include the ones you use to shower, bathe, and brush your teeth.

To maintain good water hygiene in your domestic water system, it's recommended that you perform a deep clean and disinfection of your water system. This should ideally be done annually to prevent the accumulation of bacteria and ensure clean water flow throughout your home or commercial property. A thorough clean will also help to extend the life of your water system, including the taps, showers, and pipes, by preventing problems caused by build-up over time.

Here's an overview of the process:

Drain the tank and domestic water system completely.
Scrape and clean the tank to remove any debris and contaminants.
Refill the tank and add a decontamination solution.
Turn on each outlet to decontaminate all of the pipework.
Test each outlet to ensure that all of the decontamination solution has been cleared out, and that the system is thoroughly flushed.
